The Vision

Coastal Home Health and Hospice wanted a revamp of their current Wordpress website which was so old and broken that it was essentially no longer functional. They also wanted it built on a platform that was easier for their employees to edit themselves, rather than being beholden to an outside website design company.

The Concept

Squarespace was my obvious choice for a website platform for the company, as it had a very clean, easy-to-understand interface that just about anyone could jump in and use with very little training.

I was not able to revamp their logo or color scheme, so I just focused on bringing more of a handcrafted, caring touch to all their designs, including their newsletter, volunteer posters, blog posts, and social media graphics.

For the website, I was able to salvage some text from their old website, which comprises about one-quarter to one-half of the copy that is on their new website. For the rest of the copy, I conducted interviews with various staff members in order to bring a more passionate, conversational tone to the site verbiage. I was not able to conduct direct patient interviews in order to determine the direct answers to my UX questions, but I did my best to put myself in the shoes of both potential patients and their family members, anticipating their needs and prioritizing the most important information in the hierarchy of the site navigation and page structure.
